I have created a Credit Memo with positive signage, but transaction is accounting as if its an invoice

Credit memo Transaction Type has been created with Creation Sign set to 'Positive Sign'. Have a created a transaction using this Transaction Type with a positive number. Would therefore exect accounting to be DR Rev, CR Rec but the reverse is happening - its accounting as if its an invoice.
