How to assign custom self-service roles as part of sign up process in DCS app

We have created a few custom self-service roles and user groups to segregate what articles external users can see when the custom role is assigned to an user. The functionality is working fine when assigned manually from IDCS after the initial sign up.

My question is how we can the assign the custom role during the self-service sign on process apart from the

Customer Self-Service role. Currently, it assigns Customer Self-Service role to the registered users.
