From full cost to variable cost (mdx in member formula)

edited Feb 13, 2025 11:04AM in Profitability and Cost Management 2 comments

Summary:

Variable cost is being recalculated at parent levels instead of aggregated.

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information):

To split the full cost into a variable cost, the EPCM system currently uses the following:

  • Full Cost is the end-result of our model (stored on No_Dr - No Driver)
  • Several % of variability are input (each having a single dimensionality) ⇒ a combined % is calculated (dim1 x dim 2 x dim 3 = total %) (DR_VARSCOMB%)
  • Driver dimension has DR_TOTAL_COSTS_VAR in which we do the full cost * combined %

Issue:

  • Combined % is correctly calculated at Level0
  • Variable cost is correctly calculated at Level0
