Writing autocomplete rule for default salary

Summary:

Hi,
I am writing a autocomplete rule for default salary for Minimum and maximum salary on create requisition form page.
My Salary field is having value as 55.50 where as "Lenthof" function is returning the length as 9. is there any function which can provide that field has 5 character for 55.50 in Minimum salary field.?
