item org across two Bussines units under different Legal Entity

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information):

we are implementing new BU under new legal entity  the case is the 2 BU have the same items so i was thinking to use the same Item org in the new inventory orgs in the new BU is that applicable?

also the Item org has the field managing BU with the old BU also the old Legal Entity .What will be the Impact if i removed them how would it impact the system?
