OSMH: Error "Invalid operation" While Applying Patch to a Group Using Custom Repo with ksplice

edited Mar 14, 2025 5:55PM in Linux

Applies To:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later

Linux x86-64

Symptoms

The following error is seen with OSMH while applying a patch to a group using a custom software source containing ksplice:

Error - "Invalid operation. Managed Instance Group [] does not have Ksplice Kernel updates enabled and therefore cannot perform this action"

If an instance is not part of a group, the updates are getting applied successfully.

Cause

This is a known issue. When ksplice software source is attached to custom software source for Managed Instance Group afterward, and not when it is initially created, it can cause issues in not getting attached properly.
