Revenue Contingencies Removal

Good day,

We are trying to implement the revenue contingencies to one of our clint but am not sure how if I understand the Contingency expiration date or expiration period in a right way!
Does this expiration mean that, the user has to expire the contingency manually or there is a different way by setting a period or days or even a date for the contingency to be expired automatically after this period is passed? and if so, how I can use this function?
