Oracle maps enabled, route is taking users through a large lake when calculating mileage

Summary:

We recently put Oracle maps into our production environment and pre loaded addresses of all our locations. It is calculating mileage but going through Lake Michigan instead of around it. How do we have the maps functionality take another route. We cannot have users override the mileage so how do we get it accurately figured?
