The ISO 20022 SEPA migration is aimed at enhancing payment processing by introducing:

  • structured and hybrid address formats, as well as
  • updated Pain formats (e.g., PAIN.001.001.09 and PAIN.008.001.08).

These changes are announced by the European Payments Council and set to become mandatory as off November 22nd, 2026 !

The goal is to boost accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in payment processing across Europe. These updates are closely monitored and coordinated by institutions like the European Payments Council (EPC).
