How is attribute1 populated in Bank Statement Lines?

Our client has a custom report that is directly pulling ATTRIBUTE1-3 values from CE_STATEMENT_LINES. However, when checking in Manage Bank Statement > Bank Statement Lines UI, no DFF is shown. We also have validated in Manage Descriptive Flexfields and can confirm that no DFF was setup under CE_STATEMENT_LINES code. How was ATTRIBUTE1 populated?
