OSMH: OSMH Patching Does Not install the latest kernel
in Linux

Symptoms:
- OSMH reports "Nothing to update" during patching operations.
- Vulnerability reports indicate older kernel versions still active on the system.
- $
uname -rcommand shows the server is booted with an outdated kernel version. - Manual patching via yum update or dnf update after unregistering from OSMH successfully installs the latest kernel.
- $
dnf repolistdoes not listol8_uekr7repository.
Cause:
The ol8_uekr7 (Oracle Linux 8 Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 7) repository is not enabled or attached via OSMH.Without this software source, the latest UEK7 kernel packages are not available to the instance during automated patching.
