Turn off/restrict few notifications to manager - change receipents for notifications for recruitment

We have few unnecessary notifications going out to recruiters and hiring manager and we will like to turn off or restrict few notifications to managers. How can i modify the few notifications to go out only to recruiters and turn off for the managers. please help me go over the process. i have tried going to alert composer and tried there but no way i can select groups.
