Setting Activity colour by a custom property

Does anyone else need to set a colour of an activity by another property other than Status?

Due to our CRM system having multiple Status - Scheduled > Dispatched > Accepted > On Site > Confirmed.

OFS doesn't recognise the terms Dispatched or Accepted.

At Anglian Water we use these statuses to define which work is sent to an engineers mobile device, and the Accepted status is used to show which activity an engineer is attending next (important for when choosing an order out of sequence).

Has anyone else overcome a similar problem with another solution?
