Applying Accessibility HTML markup in Dynamic content

edited Apr 29, 2025 3:11PM in Eloqua 1 comment

Summary:

Hello,

We are currently applying accessibility updates to ensure emails sent via Eloqua comply with new legislation that will soon be coming into effect.

Within Eloqua we have multiple dynamic content blocks to support the different country/language variations that reflect an international customer base.

With these dynamic emails we are experiencing challenges in ensuring the correct accessibility markup is applied specific to the recipient language.

1.  We cannot apply a country code specific lang attribute to the <html> tag via a dynamic block. It appears dynamic blocks in Eloqua depend on <span> markup to denote that a dynamic block is being applied, but this markup is not valid outside of the <body> tag.
