Create Invoice with Partial amount when Sales Order is Booked, Invoice remaining when it is Shipped

We have a requirement to create the Invoice for a Sales Order before the line is Shipped as below

1. Once the Order is created/booked, Invoice of 50% should be created

2. Once the Order is Shipped, the invoice of remaining 50% should be created.

Please let us know if there is any pointer for this requirement/ whether implementing Contracts module can make this work
