Is separate remittance email sent out via clients' SMTP mail server

Knowing that we canconfigure from email and email subject for separate remittance advice, may Iknow if at the backend, the email is sent via client's SMTP server?

If yes, is itpossible for client's IT team to do some configuration, e.g., auto forwarding,thanks
