Summary: Can we create Validation rule in VBS based on current state of requisition?

We have an approved Auto complete use case where based on Current state of requisition - When changed to posted/not posted or scheduled, need to have a warning message. We tried current state number in VBS and it does not seem to work. Please let us know the optional solution to make it work in VBS validation rule.
