Using Workzone Weightings in OFSC

As a business, we rely on the operational expertise of our field technicians. Each technician will have a set of sites which he is the "champion" for. We would want Oracle to assign work to him as the first choice and fill his day with activities relating to his site. If he is not available because of leave or some other factor, or doesn't have the capacity to complete all of the activities for that day, then we would want those activities to go to a 2nd choice technician, 3rd choice technician, and so on.

We've tried to achieve this using workzones and workzone weightings, but it doesn't give us the absolute result we require. Although workzones seem to give preference for that technician to work on his "champion" sites first, we still find he gets jobs for sites he is not champion of, either because they are a small amount of travel, or because the duration of the jobs are shorter and Oracle thinks it is "cheaper" to assign him that activity, rather than a longer activity for his own "champion" sites.

Howdy, Stranger!
