Ability to change 'Shape' of an instance

Our production OIC Instance was originally setup (incorrectly) by our consultant with a 'Development' Shape, which means it receives product updates at the same time as our other lower instances do. This does not allow for any validation or regression testing to be performed because the updates go immediately into this production environment.

I was told that there is no option to change an existing Shape from Development to Production without having to recreate the entire instance over. This requires a lot of work and coordination with other teams that have connectivity to OIC from on-prem systems. Are there any plans to make this an option to modify the Shape of an existing instance?
