Oracle Linux

Symptoms

After reboot the device name changes causing boot failure or file system mounts to the wrong mount point.

Changes

System was rebooted.

Cause

Device names are allocated during boot by the order they are presented to the system.
If the storage is external, example NAS or SAN, the devices can be presented in random order.
Also, starting in Oracle Linux 7, due to systemd parallelization the device name is more susceptible to be changed across reboots.

Howdy, Stranger!
