We need to enable a 'Future' Segment as an "InterCompany" Segment, However!

Hi all,

We are exploring the option of using an existing COA segment (future1) as the Intercompany segment and I’d like to raise the current situation and check especially from anyone in Oracle or who faced the same change on a live environment.

Current facts:

  • Our COA has 9 segments.
  • The primary (balancing) segment is 3 digits.
  • The future segment (future1) has 6 digits which proposed from end user teams to be used as the Intercompany segment.
  • The production system has been live for several years and fiscal years are already closed.
  • I am concerned about reconciling balances between existing intercompany transactions and any new transactions once the Intercompany segment + related intercompany setup are enabled.
