Is there a shared service model for Order Management similar to Procurement?

We would like to know if there is a shared service provider model for order management wherein sales order will be entered in one business unit and it will be fulfilled from an inventory organization within a different business unit. Invoice should be created, and customer payment should be received in the business unit that is fulfilling the sales order.
