Retained earnings for balance level secondary ledge

Summary: Does system calculate retained separately for Balance level secondary ledger?

We are going to create a Balance Level secondary ledger with a calendar (Mar-Feb). We have a primary ledger with the calendar (Jan-Dec). I want to know is system going to calculate the retained earnings for secondary ledger separately or will it be copied over from Primary ledger?

I know system calculates the Retained earning separately for a Journal level or Sub-ledger level secondary ledger but will it work the same way for Balance level secondary ledger?
