Oracle Linux: How to Downgrade Multiple RPM Packages to Match a Good Known System

edited Oct 22, 2025 8:15PM in Linux

Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later

Oracle Linux 8 and later

Goal:

This document explains steps to downgrade multiple RPM Packages to match a good know system in the same Oracle Linux version and patch level.

Note: Downgrading multiple packages are not usually recommended. If there is an issue with the package, the recommendation is to patch it to the newer versions.

Solution:

Node01 needs the following steps as this system needed a full re-image due to serious issues either at HW or SW layer.

This should NOT be a common practice as security threads and known bugs are being deliberately introduced to your new system (Node01)

Howdy, Stranger!
