What happens to custom object records of a contact that has email address changed?

Summary: If the email address of an SFDC lead (lead A) is changed to an existing email address of another SFDC lead (lead B) records, what would happen to the custom object records of lead A in Eloqua after it is merged to lead B? Would the custom object records be still mapped to the old email address?
