Alphanumeric or Manual number for Contracts created as outcome of negotiation- contract type basis

Summary:
Hi, we have a requirement that the contracts should follow either of the following logic for contract numbering especially those created from negotiation
- Auto numbering: generate an alphanumeric sequence for Contracts based on different Contract Types defined in system.
Contract Type# A1 - Starting Sequence#A100001
Contract Type# B2 - Starting Sequence#B200001
While setting up a sequence for contract we found that it only supports numeric sequence (Doesn't support Alphanumeric sequences). If anyone has addressed a similar requirement or is aware of a potential solution which can be used to address this use case, it would be great if you can share any pointers for the same.
