Original Degrees, Education Levels and Memberships profile content items wont hide from Employee rol

We have made a decision to hide the original Talent Profile items of Degrees, Education Levels and Memberships from our Employees as they are being used for a business-critical data storage and instead provide the workers with an alternate content section to self-declare those items. I having a problem with removing edit access to those sections for our custom employee role. I have removed the relevant job from the Profile Content Section access and also have run the Manage Data Role and Security Profiles process for the relevant role. What else do I need to do to
