Question - MWT and candidate lists

I'm probably overlooking an easy fix, but how can you restrict back the candidate list to only show active candidate on the MWT? I guess i'm torn because we might want to 'prove' to our hiring managers they have candidates, but on the other hand if we're rejecting a volume of candidates, they just clutter the managers webtop view. does anyone suggest a blanket restriction, or just propose individual users to adjust their settings (which we'd of course have to offer them a 'how to')? Thanks in advance.
