Can we implement Item Indexes without implementing Product Management redwood page?

Summary:

Can the Item Index work area be running in production without the Product Management Redwood page being implemented? We have two Inventory pages on Redwood in production but they use the Item LOV which only works if the Item Index is also implemented. We are not ready to move the Product Management Redwood page into production yet, we are still using the classic version of Product Information Management. Will this cause any issues?
