How to "transfer" the shipment history from one item to another

Hi,

we currently have several items that identify the same type of product but are supplied by different suppliers. For example, item 1 is the syringe supplied by supplier A, item 2 is the syringe supplied by supplier B, and so on.
Now the customer wants to plan with replenishment plan only one of these items but wants to have the option over time, for example every 4 months, to be able to change the item to be planned based on the shipping history of the previous one. Basically, there is one shipping history and it will be loaded into the item to be planned, but tomorrow there may be a need to change the item.
