Redwood appearance editor and themes is mandatory?

Hi,

from 25D the appearance has become redwood. Redwood appearance editor and themes

The What's New guide indicates that you can continue using the old themes.
However, I would like to know if the use of the old themes is supported by Oracle or if the new version of the themes is mandatory. Is there a timeline when the new redwood themes are mandatory?

Can anyone answer these questions?
