Oracle Linux: Error "kernel: i40e : Module type unrecognized" are reported for NIC Interfaces

Symptom

/var/log/messages reports the below errors for multiple NIC interfaces: 

<DATE> <Hostname> kernel: <Interface>: Module type unrecognized

<DATE> <Hostname> kernel: <Interface>: Module type unrecognized

Cause

This is a known issue reported in UEK R6 and R7.

Solution

The above noticed messages are harmless. To avoid these messages, update the kernel to the below mentioned versions.

UEKR6: Version 5.4.17-2136.336.5 and above 
UEKR7: Version 5.15.0-301.163.3 and above
