BU support for Knowledge: Max num of BUs and Can be enabled without enable BU for Help Desk?

Summary:

I have some questions about Knowledge Management Business Unit Support. For a new implementation, we are interested in enabling BU support for Knowledge. However, we will possible have around 200 BUs and want to understand if it is reasonable from a system perspective to enable this feature for that amount of BUs? Also, does this feature require to also enable "Business Units" feature under Help Desk offering or can "Knowledge Management Business Unit Support" be set up independently? Thanks
