Can I remove an element from Attachable Earnings?

We have an irregular earnings element which we have just discovered (through a payroll transaction) is included in attachable earnings for court orders. This element should NOT be included but still needs to be an irregular earning.

I have tried end dating it from the balance feed but that has not produced the desired result. I also cannot add an end date to the subclassification rule, specifically Attachable Earnings Irregular and I am reluctant to delete it.

Has anyone come across this before and can advise what course of action to take please? I have a number of expense elements which are the same.
