Ability to prevent external candidates from getting merged with Contingent Worker

Summary:

we have a business requirement to hire contingent workers but if we choose to bring them on as employees in the future, we do not want the records merged together.

Is there any ability to customize / configure the list of allowed Person Types for potential duplicates? We want to remove 'Contingent Worker' and 'Ex-Contingent Worker' from the list so that external candidates cannot be merged with Contingent workers.
