Stop Absence Approval Before CEO Unless He Is Direct Manager

Summary:

I have a requirement in Absence Approval workflow to route approvals through the supervisory hierarchy.

The expected behavior is:

  • The approval should follow the normal management hierarchy.
  • The workflow must not go to the CEO if he appears as the 2nd, 3rd, or higher-level manager in the hierarchy.
  • However, if the CEO is the direct (first line) manager of the employee, then the approval should go to him normally.

The challenge is that the number of hierarchy levels is not fixed across employees.

What would be the recommended approach to dynamically stop the workflow before reaching the CEO unless he is the direct manager?

Howdy, Stranger!
