How to make termination date field blank in Terminate Employment page

We have migrated recently to redwood. In Terminate employment page, when we enter a date(eg. 01/03/2026) and give a action like retirement the date field values remain with the date we entered. When we modify the Termination action to 'Death' the Termination notification date and Termination date is automatically getting changed to current date. Can we make Termination date field empty or default post the termination date is selected?
