Salesperson field on Order

Hello,

We are setting up salesperson in our instance; however we wanted to know more insights of this feature. Like what revenue percentage in salesperson field means while creating order. And what/if any other things get affected when we select salesperson for our orders and when it gets inherited on our invoice.
