HrHelpDeskRequests VB custom LOV and API

Hi All.

I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. I am trying to further customise seeded HrHelpDeskRequests Dynamic Form/Layout (at this point I am not even sure what it is)

What I am trying to do is add a LOV which will fetch direct reports of the currently logged in user.

I already know which APIs I will need to get that it.

The only issue I am having is I find it hard to be able to use $user.UserId variable in the form. I can access this in the Service-Request-Create-Start flow but not in the form itself, therefore my API would return every employee in the organisation but I only want spefic ones for the logged in user.
