Defaulting the location from a Department while hiring and Change Assignment - Setup

Hi Team,

We have two questions in this request.

Q1)
We believe, defaulting the location from a Department while hiring and Change Assignment is automatically works If a Department is associated with a Location?
Example: While Hiring, once you select Department then automatically Location field value is populated with Department's location by default? Is our understanding correct?
or
Do we need to do any setup through a Profile Option (or) VBS extension rule?

Q2)
Currently, location is not defaulting from department while hiring, even though Departments are associated with Locations.
Do we need to make any additional setup through a Profile Option (or) VBS extension rule?
