IPM Advanced Predictions: How Drivers Influence Future Data

My team has been configuring multivariate advanced predictions but we require some clarification on how the model predicts future data. We noticed that you can choose a different intersection for drivers in the "Future Data" (step 4). If we place an intersection with forecast data for the drivers in this step does that data get used after training (as test data) to determine the prediction?

Mention of this in current documentation states: "No other changes are needed. Input and output drivers are the same".

If they are not used after training (as test data) what is used and what configuration options exist?
