Can GL Journal Approval use absolute journal line amounts at batch level for threshold routing?

edited Apr 3, 2026 10:39AM in General Ledger & Intercompany

Summary:

We are trying to confirm whether Oracle Fusion General Ledger Journal Approval can be configured to evaluate approval thresholds based on the absolute value of journal lines across an entire journal batch, rather than using the net batch total.

Current requirement Our current approval workflow uses the journal batch debit/credit total for routing. For example, if the batch total does not exceed USD 50,000 and the source is Spreadsheet, it is auto-approved; otherwise, it is routed to approver groups based on legal entity and journal category.

Issue encountered Some journals contain negative amounts. In these cases, the batch total or journal total can become zero or remain below the approval threshold, even though the actual magnitude of the entries is significant. As a result, the journal batch may bypass the intended approval routing.

Howdy, Stranger!
