Assigning Intercompany balancing segment label to future segment

in General Ledger & Intercompany

Summary:

Hi Team

We have a Future segment (Future Segment 1) in our Chart of Accounts with the same length as the Primary Balancing Segment (2 characters).
Currently, this segment does not have any segment label assigned and has already been used in posted transactions.

Going forward, there is a new requirement to use this Future segment as an Intercompany segment by assigning the Intercompany segment label to it.

We would like to understand:

  1. Is it supported by Oracle to assign the Intercompany segment label to an existing segment after transactions are already posted?
  2. Will assigning the label have any impact on historical journals, balances, or reports?
