For tax years 2021 through 2025, the Metro SHS Personal Income Tax applies only to taxable income over $125,000 for single filers and over $200,000 for joint filers, for individuals who either reside in or earn income within Metro’s jurisdiction.
Oregon taxable income, as reported on the individual’s state tax return, is the starting point for calculating Metro taxable income
However, we are currently observing that employees who are single filers and whose annualized wages are below $125,000 are still having Metro SHS tax withheld through payroll, which is not aligned with the above guidance.
