How to Restrict or Disable Seeded Line Type 'Rate-Based Service Purchasing' + Add Warning/Validation

A request came up from our client to hide/disable the 'Rate-based Service' Purchasing line type for buyers in Oracle.

From my research so far:

  • These are seeded values, so they can’t be deleted
  • They also can’t be end-dated
  • The option to restrict line types via standard document styles is grayed out, you can only specify line types in a brand new custom document style

As a workaround, we’re considering:

  • Updating the description to 'DO NOT USE', or
  • Creating a new custom document style (but it should be defaulted, which is not possible with Oracle at the moment)
