GL Allocation: Use Prior Period as Source and Post to Current Period (Fully Automated)

We are trying to confirm whether the following requirement is supported using standard Oracle Cloud GL Allocations functionality

Requirement:

  • The allocation rule should use balances from the prior period (for example, May-26) as the source
  • The resulting allocation journals should be posted into the current period (for example, Jun-26)
  • The process must run automatically each month with no manual intervention
  • The system should dynamically determine both:
    • the prior period for sourcing
    • the current period for posting (no manual updates to period parameters each month)

To clarify, the requirement is specifically:

  • Not to run allocations within the same period
  • Not to run separate allocations for prior and current periods
