France & Italy Email Tracking Regulations

in Eloqua 2 comments

Hello everyone,

I wanted to follow up regarding recent guidance issued by the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) and the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante) concerning the use of email tracking pixels.

At a high level, the guidance indicates that email tracking pixels used for analytics and engagement monitoring may require additional consent under ePrivacy requirements, and that consent for tracking may be separate from consent to receive emails.

The following summary provides a helpful overview of the guidance:

Some companies have strict mode tracking enabled, others don't. Is this going to be covered in that feature? Does Oracle have any plans to incorporate this into the platform's features (so a contact can be globally subscribed with email tracking disabled?), so we don't have to build two different email sets (one with tracking enabled and one with tracking disabled)?
