Payable Agent Configuration : Alias and document IO incoming email

Hello Everyone,

Can someone please clarify us the importance of Alias in Payable Agent Configuration Tab.

As part of our testing, we have found that supplier needs to sent email to incoming document IO email address. If this is true then what is the importance of Alias. Is it mandatory to put Alias.

Can someone please advice in which business case we use Alias email address ?
