editing GL accounts for bank accounts

We need to edit the GL accounts for several of our bank accounts that were initially set up incorrectly.

I've tried to simply edit the account numbers and save them. However, new transactions are continuing to post to the wrong accounts. Is there another step that I'm missing? Has anyone else encountered this?
