Do we need GOP sourcing rules for creating transfer orders?

Is GOP sourcing rule configuration required for this process? Does the requirement depend on whether the items are planned through MRP versus non-MRP planned items?

If GOP sourcing rules are required, should the configuration be maintained as Global Sourcing, Local Sourcing, or a combination of both?
